Rainbow the Unicorn by Sadie

(This is Sadie's entry for the Reading Rainbow contest. I just want to say that the original draft of this story was way more violent than this draft. I encouraged her to edit it for children.)

Once upon a time, there was a unicorn. That unicorn was named Rainbow. Rainbow lived in the forest, the rain forest!

One day, there was a hunter.

The unicorn felt mad! The unicorn knew just what to do. The unicorn charged, with the horn pointing straight to the guy’s chest. The hunter felt mad!

But the unicorn turned, going straight into a tree. The hunter laughed. Then, the hunter got too much of the unicorn’s funniness from the unicorn, so he went away.

The hunter ran and ran, and Rainbow felt funny.

Dear Sadie,

Nick who is 12 and is my son wants to hear the more violent version of your story, if he can. He liked it a lot! I am pretty sure Sabrina who is 8 will also want to hear it, she loves a good story with conflict.

Tracy, who is friends with your mom :-)
